About The Position

Under general supervision, sets up and makes cores; and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Considerable experience in foundry coremaking, preferably including shell, oil, sand, and no-bake processes
• Experience in oven operation and temperature control
• Experience in core making set-ups
• Experience in wiring boxes to reduce breakage rates
• Training in hazardous materials risks and emergency response procedures
• Considerable knowledge of coremaking practices and procedures
• Knowledge of hazardous materials risks and emergency response procedures
• Ability to inspect own work for conformity with quality standards
• Ability to use wall-mounted fixture to manually bend rebar
• Ability to use hand tools, small power tools and air rammer
• Ability to use cut-off saw, and band saw, and change blades, as needed
• Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and related departments
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to complete basic work records
• Ability to interpret work specifications for different jobs
• Ability to cut materials to correct dimensions
• Ability to read and check equipment control settings
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, lift, and carry materials and objects weighing 35 pounds or less
• Ability to move heavier objects using mechanized devices or with the assistance of co-workers
• Ability to use safety gear, including glasses, bump cap/helmet, mask, ear plugs, and shoes as required for job at hand

Responsibilities

• Makes cores following established procedures
• Receives job orders
• Cuts metal wires using band saw
• Cuts rebar using cut-off saw
• Manually bends rebar using a wall-mounted fixture
• Starts ovens and ensures appropriate temperature for coremaking work
• Bakes cores at various temperatures specified in instructions
• Cleans work areas
• Returns completed orders to production control
• Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position
• Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations
