About The Position

The Core Systems Engineer works with a team of professionals responsible for the applications that directly support Mountain America’s Core Banking infrastructure. This includes assisting in day-to-day core banking systems operations, application support, automation development, monitoring, patch management, creating documentation, and incident response. Mountain America Credit Union is seeking a skilled Core Systems Engineer to support and enhance the applications that power our core banking environment. This role focuses on core banking platforms, workload automation, scripting, and system reliability, with an emphasis on OpCon (by Continuous), Corelation KeyStone, Jack Henry Symitar, and PowerShell automation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting mission-critical financial systems, automating operational tasks, and improving application stability in Linux/UNIX environments.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of IT experience with enterprise application support
  • Experience with OpCon workload automation
  • Experience with core banking applications (Corelation KeyStone or Jack Henry Symitar)
  • Strong PowerShell scripting experience
  • Experience supporting Linux/UNIX-based systems
  • Experience with system monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts, incident management, and change control

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Windows Server environments
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or automated workflow platforms
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or regulated environments
  • Strong focus on automation, reliability, and operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Support, administer, and maintain core banking applications supporting enterprise banking operations
  • Design, develop, and support automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell, batch, Bash, SQL, or Python
  • Support and manage OpCon workload automation (by Continuous)
  • Support Corelation KeyStone environments; Jack Henry Symitar experience accepted as an equivalent
  • Monitor application availability, performance, and batch processing using monitoring tools, logs, and alerts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues across Linux/UNIX environments
  • Participate in incident response, escalation, documentation, and root cause analysis
  • Perform application updates, upgrades, patching, and release testing
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) plans
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks
  • Follow established change management and operational processes
  • Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24x7 system support
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business partners to improve system reliability and usability
