About The Position

The Core System Operations Specialist serves as the enterprise‑wide Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Credit Union's core system, Fiserv DNA, supporting all departments across physical branch and virtual environments. This role provides expert guidance on core system functionality, account structures, transaction processing, and operational best practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency organization‑wide. In addition to core system expertise, the Operations Coordinator oversees key operational functions including transaction accuracy, account documentation review, and operational coaching. The role partners with departments, branch leadership, and virtual teams to identify skill gaps and support operational excellence across the Credit Union. This position is also responsible for maintaining front‑line operational procedures to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with core system functionality and approved policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience
  • Two to five years of experience in credit union or bank operations.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Fiserv DNA and operations subject matter expert.
  • Strong understanding of front‑line transaction processing, account structures, and operational workflows.
  • Proven ability to provide coaching and guidance across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and follow‑up skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of regulations related to deposit products, including Reg E, Reg CC, Reg D, and the Truth in Savings Act.

Responsibilities

  • Fiserv DNA SME (Enterprise‑Wide): Serve as the primary core system subject matter expert for all departments, providing guidance on system functionality, account structures, workflows, and best practices.
  • Act as a central point of reference for questions related to core system usage, transactions, and operational impacts.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of core system operations and complete account structures across all products and services.
  • Stay current on core system enhancements, releases, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote consistent and effective use of the core system across the organization.
  • Network with other financial institutions to remain informed of evolving core system trends and support implementation of approved best practices.
  • Operations Oversight: Monitor account documentation and transaction activity to identify trends, risks, and operational gaps affecting front‑line teams.
  • Review transaction accuracy trends and partner with senior operations SMEs as needed to support issue resolution.
  • Assist branches, virtual teams, and departments in resolving operational and system-related issues.
  • Serve as an operational and system resource to front‑line associates and leaders.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify operational and core system usage gaps and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to support improved front‑line performance.
  • Partner with leaders and appropriate departments when broader training needs or process changes are identified.
  • Conduct periodic assessments of front‑line operational effectiveness through analysis and collaboration with leadership.
  • Recommend operational or procedural improvements to enhance consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Communicate regularly through site visits, meetings, huddles, and conference calls.
  • Front‑Line Procedures Maintenance: Maintain and update front‑line operational procedures to ensure alignment with core system functionality, approved policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure procedures clearly reflect current front‑line processes and system usage.
  • Partner with stakeholders to update procedures impacted by system enhancements, process changes, or regulatory guidance.
  • Serve as a reference point for interpretation and application of front‑line procedures.
  • Vendor & Systems Support: Maintain day‑to-day operational relationships with core vendor related to systems impacting front‑line and departmental users.
  • Support communication and user readiness related to system updates or enhancements.
