About The Position

As a Maintenance Planner, you will play a key role in keeping our plant running smoothly and efficiently. You’ll coordinate all maintenance activities—including equipment repairs, component replacements, and preventive maintenance—while directly influencing the maintenance budget and overall plant performance. Your responsibilities include developing accurate and timely maintenance plans and schedules, providing cost and time estimates for outages and repairs using the CMMS, reviewing work requests for accuracy, and collaborating closely with maintenance and production teams to ensure work is prioritized and executed effectively. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organizing complex tasks, solving problems proactively, and contributing to a high-performing maintenance operation.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Three to five years of maintenance planning experience is preferred
  • CMMS experience, ideally using SAP

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed job scopes to anticipate issues and reduce delays, while providing accurate labor estimates with the right skills, resources, and time requirements. Ensure correct equipment and location identification, availability of parts, tools, and equipment, and inclusion of all required specifications, permits, hazards, and work instructions in the work package.
  • Coordination of equipment downtime with production. Managing the backlog to avert loss of production and escalating maintenance cost, using communication tools such as e-mail, weekly planning meeting, face to face, and telephone.
  • Manage the backlog through long and short range planning. Prioritize work orders that require labor and material in advice of scheduling. Authorization of minor work for entry into the backlog. Ensure accuracy of backlog through the elimination of duplicate work orders unwarranted requests.
  • Writes requisitions for direct purchase as needed, obtains necessary competitive bids, and verifies delivery dates. Monitors material/parts delivery, and receives all maintenance material whether for direct purchases or stores for their planned work.
  • Schedule and coordinate for the process of allocating the resources for specific jobs and determine what jobs are scheduled and which resources can best be applied to their performance. Issues current and well-organized backlog reports to production and maintenance supervision in preparation for weekly scheduling meeting. Understand their workloads, short and long-term plans, and priorities. Support the Production Team with maintenance knowledge and mechanical expertise to allow them to manage their operation as effectively as possible.
  • Participate in weekly scheduling meetings with operations, maintenance supervisors, and engineers to review the preliminary schedule, make agreed-upon changes, and evaluate the success or challenges of the previous week’s schedule to identify improvement opportunities.
