About The Position

In the Core Operating Systems group, you’ll ensure the OS is inseparable from each device’s identity as a whole. That’s because this group is committed to building fully integrated operating systems that combine hardware, software, and apps into a single Apple experience. Your dedication to cross-disciplinary collaboration will help develop groundbreaking technologies, such as iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. By crafting these distinct, well-rounded user experiences, you’ll continue to uphold and advance the excellence people expect from Apple devices. Apple’s CoreOS organization is seeking a highly motivated test engineer to join the Core Darwin QA team. We recognize that the quality of our software is only as good as that of our testing. The right candidate for this position enjoys finding creative and unexpected ways to torture bits.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Excellent programming skills in C/Python.
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of operating systems.
• Understanding of software development workflows and standard methodologies.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of testing methodologies.
• Experience working with a QE team.

Responsibilities

• Develop a good understanding of ongoing development efforts across the operating systems teams.
• Work alongside OS developers to create and implement comprehensive test plans during feature development.
• Maintain and extend automated test harnesses and infrastructures.
• Write automated tests for kernel and user space features.
• Enable an increased quality and quantity of test coverage for various parts of the OS.
