About The Position

Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Dearborn office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Dearborn, MI. Support NetCom Application engineers, D&R Engineers, and suppliers regarding Ford diagnostic requirements, tools, and processes for vehicle program diagnostic issue resolution. Collaborate with other Core Diagnostic team members to identify gaps and future improvements. Collaborate to support, maintain, and improve existing Ford diagnostic tools such as DET, Diagnostic Script Player, Diagnostic Script Setup Tool, MDX tools, VBF tools, and diagnostic simulators. Collaborate to support, maintain, and improve existing Ford diagnostic specs such as GGDS, SWDL, ECU Configuration, and associated test specs. Collaborate to support, maintain, and improve existing Ford diagnostic processes such as GMRDB, diagnostic development with CANdela, and diagnostic DVP&R. Work with VO, FCSD, and commodity teams in defining new DIDs, DTCs, and routines. Support upcoming FNV4 diagnostic changes including Diagnostic over IP (DoIP) at OBD2 connector and DoIP within the vehicle. Core Diagnostic DLL and tool updates to support Ethernet communications. Diagnostic development process updates related to Ethernet. Collaborate on new security solutions related to diagnostics including authentication of services, gateway network protection. Work with Tier 2 suppliers including Vector to implement updated diagnostic requirements within Autosar environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 7 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilize ISO 14229-1 based diagnostic clients and servers over CAN at minimum. 2. Define and use diagnostic data parameters, including DIDs, DTCs, and routines. 3. Generate and execute test procedures and specifications with a focus on automation. 4. Configure and utilize ECU diagnostic simulation tools (CANoe or Vehicle Link Simulator). 5. Use CAN and Ethernet bus monitoring tools (CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, or Wireshark).
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Use ISO 14229-1 based diagnostic engineering tools (Diagnostic Engineering Tool) and ISO 14229-2 conformance tools (Diagnostic Script Player) and ISO 14229-1 based diagnostic formats (Multiplex Diagnostic eXchange MDX). 2. Use project management tools, including Jira, to track project timelines, experience creating, collaborating and assigning tasks. 3. Troubleshoot ECU level ISO 14229-1 based conformance issues, including both application and transport layer compliance.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilize programming and scripting languages and tools, including C, C++, VB .NET and Git. 2. Tier 1 supplier and Tier 2 collaboration on complex issue resolution. 3. Utilize CANdela diagnostic files which contain ECU specific diagnostic requirements.
