About The Position

BayCare Medical Group is seeking a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician to join the Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital South as Core Faculty in an outpatient-only role. This position is ideal for a physician educator committed to resident teaching, mentorship, and longitudinal primary care within a well-resourced GME environment. Core faculty serve as educators and mentors, supporting resident development across clinical training, wellness, academic growth, and career planning. Program Overview The Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital South provides a comprehensive, structured educational experience with emphasis on: Resident development, wellness, and professional identity formation Procedural competence and ambulatory-based education Individualized career planning, leadership development, and fellowship support The program is based at a 223-bed community teaching hospital offering cardiology, critical care, surgery, and women’s health services. Residents train in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment supported by modern technology and a strong culture of quality and patient safety. Residents complete thirteen four-week block rotations annually and participate in a BayCare continuity clinic, where they spend a half-day weekly throughout training delivering longitudinal primary care. St. Joseph’s Hospital South is located in Riverview, Florida, a rapidly growing suburban community near Tampa, offering convenient access to urban amenities, Gulf Coast beaches, and major airports. St. Joseph’s Hospital–South is a modern, 223-bed hospital located in Riverview, a fast-growing suburban community just south of Tampa, offering a collaborative, high-quality clinical environment.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • Demonstrated interest in graduate medical education
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching or academic experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient internal medicine care in a teaching clinic
  • Precept and mentor Internal Medicine residents
  • Participate in didactic teaching, curriculum development, and academic activities
  • Engage in program evaluation, quality improvement, and scholarly activity
  • Collaborate with program leadership and interdisciplinary faculty
