About The Position

As a Core Design Thermal-Hydraulic Engineering Intern you will work with experienced engineers and designers to support the development of analytical models for the performance analysis of the nuclear reactor. The position will be located in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office. Your Day to Day as a Core Design Thermal-Hydraulic Engineering Intern includes collaborating with engineers and designers to develop analytical models for nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulic performance analysis and assessing their operating characteristics using state-of-the-art analysis software. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to make design tradeoffs and decisions relating to thermal-hydraulic performance of a terrestrial or space based nuclear reactor system.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled student, pursuing a degree in engineering or physics.
  • Must have a strong interest in thermal-hydraulic engineering.
  • Must have completed introductory engineering classes, including thermodynamics/heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or those same topics covered in nuclear engineering courses.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with thermal-hydraulic analysis tools (MOOSE, Ansys or other) is a plus.
