About The Position

Purpose To support the Assessment Office with Core Curriculum assessment. Gather and score samples of student work from selected Core Curriculum courses to determinethe extent to which student work demonstrates the UT Student Competencies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of best practices in writing and communication
  • Skills in analytical and critical thinking
  • Skills in gathering and analyzing facts to devise solutions to problems
  • Skills in using personal computers, Canvas, BOX, and Microsoft Office applications (specifically Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Ability to collaborate with others on tasks and projects
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written formats
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
  • Current graduate student in good academic standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Not required but a small number of fluent Spanish-speakers are desired to review and score student work from Spanish courses.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the content and application of the assessment rubric for the appropriate Core Curriculum component area through training provided by the Assessment Office
  • Read assignment prompts and samples of student work to assess the extent to which students demonstrate competencies listed in the rubric
  • Document assigned score for each sample of student work
  • Contribute to written summaries and reports
  • Redact student information from artifacts
  • Work in a collaborative team environment; will work closely with at least one other rater at all times
