About The Position
The Agriculture Research Development Program (ARDP) at Central State University is seeking a Core Analytical Laboratory Manager to oversee the use and maintenance of core lab analytical equipment. This position is critical in ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently and effectively, providing high-quality data for various research projects. The manager will be responsible for designing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the extraction and analysis of diverse sample matrices using both standard wet chemistry methods and advanced analytical instrumentation. The role requires a strong background in chemistry, particularly in the identification and characterization of compounds, both qualitatively and quantitatively. In addition to managing the laboratory's analytical equipment, the Core Analytical Laboratory Manager will collaborate with faculty involved in land grant research to develop new analytical methods and improve existing ones. This includes mentoring student researchers and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and university policies. The manager will also be tasked with maintaining the functionality of analytical equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and managing the chemical inventory and laboratory supplies. The position demands a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and produce reliable outcomes under strict deadlines. The manager will also engage in complex laboratory experiments, data management, and reporting, assisting researchers with data analysis and interpretation for presentations and publications. This role is pivotal in fostering a collaborative research environment and supporting the educational development of undergraduate students in the field of analytical chemistry.
