About The Position

This is a full-time on-site role for a Business Development Manager at Cooler Logistics in Chicago, IL. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive business growth and increase profitability. Your day-to-day tasks will include identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, conducting market research, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2 + years experience in the transportation field.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and identify potential business opportunities.
  • Multimodal knowledge within the logistics industry.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Able to work in office full time.

Responsibilities

  • Research new leads by utilizing customer databases and customer relationship management software.
  • Uncover customer needs while successfully positioning all Cooler services, including but not limited to, truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal.
  • Foster a team culture that is committed to continuous improvement and quality service.
  • Accountable to profit, service, new customer, and volume goals.
  • Consult with several levels of decision-makers and buying influences to understand customers’ business challenges and supply chain goals.
  • Creating initial customer SOPs during OnBoarding phase.
  • Engage in effective negotiation strategies regarding pricing and solutions with the carrier team, staying abreast of customer business changes for opportunity identification.
  • Manage conflicts diplomatically, advocate for customer needs within the organization, and align resources for customer priorities.
  • Collaborate with CSM teams to create and execute an implementation plan to effectively transition relationship management duties.
  • Execute all RFP responsibilities including bid tool understanding, bid expectations and scheduling rate meetings.
  • Responsible for coordinating QBRs with team resources including scheduling, deck management, agenda and follow up reporting to management.
