About The Position

The Santa Fe New Mexican, an independently owned news organization in New Mexico's beautiful capital city, is seeking a versatile journalist to join its copy and design desk. At The New Mexican, we remain committed to community journalism and investigative reporting, and value copy editing and impactful presentation. On our copy desk, multitasking is a must. You'll be editing stories, designing pages, selecting and editing photos, and posting stories and photos to our website, with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Excellent grammar and spelling skills
• Knowledge of AP style
• Excellent headline-writing skills and news judgment
• Attention to detail
• Interest and curiosity in national and world events, sports, science, the arts and pop culture
• Comfortable with deadline pressure
• Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with web publishing and SEO

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with the BLOX platform
