About The Position

The Student Assistant plays a key role in supporting the audition process for applicants to The College of Performing Arts that starts on February 27th and runs until March 8th. As an integral part of the admission team, you will serve as a friendly, welcoming presence for auditionees, offering both logistical support and positive encouragement throughout the audition day. You will help ensure that auditions run smoothly and efficiently, while providing applicants with a high-quality experience at The New School. This position ends on March 8th. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at The New School for Spring 2025 and preference will be given to students enrolled in The College of Performing Arts. Responsibilities

  • Assist with Schedule Management: Help maintain and update a shared audition schedule to ensure smooth communication and coordination among the admission team and fellow student assistants
  • Assist with Check-In: Help with check-in procedures at the beginning of the audition day, ensuring that all applicants are registered, informed, and prepared.
  • Provide General Information: Greet applicants warmly and assist with answering general questions about the university, academic programs, student services, and campus life.
  • Escort Applicants: Accompany auditioning students to their warm-up rooms and auditions, providing them with a clear and calm experience as they prepare for their audition.
  • Support the Admissions Team: Work closely with the performing arts admissions staff, providing assistance wherever needed, including logistical tasks, troubleshooting, or filling in to support the team.
  • Represent The New School: Act as a representative of the university, maintaining a professional, approachable demeanor at all times. Help create a positive first impression for all visitors and applicants, both online and in-person.
  • Promote Inclusivity and Respect: Demonstrate respect, empathy, and professionalism while working with a diverse group of applicants, faculty, staff, and visitors. Ensure that all individuals feel valued and welcomed.
