About The Position

The Team Leader provides day to day management of Child Outpatient Services including oversight of all clinical care, including intakes/open access, supervision, monitoring of compliance to policies/protocols related to billing, coaching and quality assurance practices. He/She will carry a small caseload (up to 8 clients), and complete all related tasks including but not limited to evaluation and assessment; outreach; case and care management; individual, group and family therapies; crisis intervention; record keeping; collaboration with other professionals, team members and related community services (including consultation and/or community and/or school placements). He/she will be an active member of the child outpatient and crisis service team, participating in care coordination, risk management and programmatic management discussions. He/She may be assigned to respond to calls for assistance by telephone or in person (as clinically indicated) and will be issued a Wellmore cell phone to do this.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters.
  • Must understand and be able to display the clinical knowledge and expertise necessary to perform crisis intervention.
  • Must have knowledge of cultural diversity and be capable of displaying cultural competency to the populations served by the program.
  • Must be able to display knowledge and expertise in clinical theory and practice as it relates to the populations served by Wellmore, Inc.
  • Must be capable of working as a part of a team and be able to effectively communicate with both families and professionals (in writing and verbally).
  • Working knowledge of the greater Waterbury area is a must!
  • A master’s degree in marriage and family therapy or social work and a Connecticut license as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Social Worker is required.
  • Two years post graduate clinical experience treating children, adolescents or families is required, four years experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance required; CPR and first-aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) a plus.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and the necessary credentialing from NASW or AAMFT (or a similar credentialing body which approves supervisors or supervisors in training, status etc.) preferred.
  • Experience in family therapies and/or training in family systems theory and practice as well as group therapy are also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • To provide day to day oversight of all functions within Child Outpatient Services, including Open Access, child/adolescent/family sessions, compliance and monitoring of documentation practices, supervision, and quality assurance, as well as other tasks necessary for smooth implementation of services to families.
  • To provide supervision, on a weekly basis and as needed, to all assigned clinical staff and interns to ensure strong quality care and risk management.
  • To work in partnership with the supervisory team to support the open access model for families seeking care for their youth.
  • To ensure that all clinical documentation completed by staff has been done with quality and adheres to clinical and billing requirements. This includes review of documents, providing second signature, as needed, monitoring completion, and timing to ensure billable services.
  • To support the use of evidence-based models with identified clients within the Child Outpatient Clinic, including providing clinical guidance, preparation and organization for training series (as needed) and support toward credentialing.
  • To participate actively in intra-agency collaboration (MCIS, IICAPS, Care Coordination, FFT, UCC) and external entities (CHDI).
  • To support staff growth and development through training, including informal and formal methods within supervision and staff meetings.
  • To work in partnership with the Business Office staff to facilitate smooth workflow between clinical staff and front office staff.
  • To partner with other programmatic leaders, particularly those in crisis services, to help triage families into the most appropriate level of care across Wellmore services.
  • To support and supervise bachelor and master level interns as needed.
  • To model and support the collaboration and partnership between clinicians, families and other programs so that families receive quality and coordinated care at Wellmore.
  • To provide clinical care to a limited number of clients including evaluation/assessment; care management; individual, group and family therapies, as well as crisis intervention.
  • To carry a work cell phone and be available for crisis support or clinical guidance to staff after hours (or on weekends as assigned).
  • To assist the Director in the clinical and administrative management of the program.
  • To seek to continuously improve the services of the Outpatient department.
  • To assist in program development, grant writing, marketing and community outreach.
  • To serve on agency and/or community committees.
  • To actively participate in supervision and report directly to the supervisor.
  • Other such duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
