Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manages and maintains professional relationships with prospective students, vendors, guest speakers, University administration, faculty, staff and students Manages and solves problems related to course scheduling and assigning classrooms; organizes the scheduling of independent research and senior thesis, including maintenance of the Canvas research page; registers students each term in J1; places book orders for all undergraduate and graduate classes and labs; coordinates with other departments for issues of course scheduling, overload pay, facilities, and more. Assists all faculty and staff with issues with Canvas, J1, Starfish, ADP, Concur, Connections, and more. Coordinates with Facilities and 4M to oversees the maintenance and repair of the science lab building, spaces, and equipment. Coordinates with IT to ensure proper distribution, functioning, and updates of computer hardware in the building. Reviews and updates department information on the website; performs copy editing of department informational and promotional materials; maintains and updates the department Canvas page for communication with students in the department; coordinates activities and materials for student clubs, senior thesis presentations and department meetings. Collects data, runs and analyzes reports for purposes of advising, graduation, alumni tracking, course evaluation, and program assessment. Coordinates data collection, organization of activities, and payments for departmental federal grants. Manages the hiring process for adjunct instructors and overload pay for full-time faculty Manages supplies and equipment for classes, teaching laboratories, research laboratories, and general office materials. Works with the Chemical Safety Officer and Biology Lab Manager for tracking, storage, and disposal of chemicals and biological materials. Responsible for researching, placing, tracking, and receiving all lab orders; manages PO and capital budget requests. Reviews budget monthly, assists line adjustments, submission of guest speaker and adjunct overload pay requests, manages full-time faculty overloads and coordination with other departments. General maintenance of files, work orders, room reservations, parking needs, printers, tracking of accounts payable and receivable, and the many other undefined responsibilities as requested. Organizes and maintains confidential student files, communications, registration, financial aid, book orders, admission, graduation, conference registrations and reimbursements, and incoming and outgoing student activities
