About The Position

The Coordinator position in the Environmental, Health, Safety & Emergency Management department involves assisting in administering a comprehensive safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, and emergency management program. The role supports individual department efforts by serving as a resource for technical environmental, industrial hygiene, safety, and emergency management issues. Responsibilities include consulting on various safety concerns, developing and revising safety policies and procedures, maintaining required records, and representing the department on committees and task forces. The Coordinator also manages hazardous chemicals and waste, investigates accidents and complaints, conducts facility inspections and drills, and develops training programs related to safety and emergency management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Safety, Emergency Management, or Industrial Hygiene preferred.
  • Ability to obtain one or more relevant certifications is highly desirable.

  • Certifications such as Safety Professional, Industrial Hygienist, Hazardous Materials Manager, Professional Engineer, Fire Protection Engineer, Qualified Environmental Protection Specialist, Emergency Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Consults on technical environmental, industrial hygiene, safety, and emergency management issues.
  • Acts as an expert for emergency management, fire safety/life safety code, general safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental issues.
  • Develops and revises safety policies/procedures.
  • Maintains records as required, including TJC EOC documentation and local/state reports.
  • Represents the EHSEM on committees, task forces, and various projects.
  • Manages hazardous chemicals, waste, and vapors.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents involving fires, injury, or property damage.
  • Investigates complaints involving environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety issues.
  • Conducts facility inspections and various drills.
  • Develops and delivers training programs related to emergency management and safety.
  • Serves as Safety Officer in the Hospital Incident Command System.
