About The Position

The Youth Day Camp Coordinator at the Treasure Valley Family YMCA is responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment for youth program participants. This role involves supervising staff, managing a high-quality youth program, and ensuring effective communication with participants and parents. The coordinator will oversee multiple program site locations and engage with community members to promote the YMCA's mission of strengthening communities through youth development and healthy living.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; related graduate degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain communication with staff and members.
  • Ability to address and make solid decisions in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette and computer use.
  • Prior experience supervising staff and volunteers preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in youth program management.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including hiring, scheduling, coaching, and ongoing development.
  • Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
  • Create an environment that fosters safety through supervision and role modeling safe behaviors.
  • Resolve child and parent concerns and issues, following appropriate incident response procedures.
  • Oversee multiple program site locations, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and required program records.
  • Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Manage staff meetings to keep staff informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, and policy changes.
