About The Position

The coordinator is responsible for overseeing volunteer programs, facilitating student engagement in community service activities. This position aims to provide students with opportunities to apply learning in real-world settings while fostering a culture of service. The coordinator also oversees the daily operations of The Den at the Henderson Campus including oversight of student workers and campus-based engagement programs. Overseeing daily operations of The Den, Henderson, this includes: Hiring and overseeing student staff, developing, planning and executing events out of the center. Managing the budget and serving as a resource to the campus community that reserves the center for various programs. Coordinating volunteer opportunities for CSN students and staff to connect with the Vegas Valley community. Foster partnerships with organizations that may serve as sites for service-learning experiences and volunteer opportunities with assistance from the Director. Develop and launch the True-Blue Service initiative that will set community wide service goals for CSN. Track service hours from members of the CSN community and help brand CSN has an organization that gives back to the community. Administrative duties – meetings, P-card reconciliation, etc. As assigned by the supervisory chain of command, participate in and/or complete special projects. Participate in department and campus-wide professional development programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of related or comparable professional experience.

  • 1 year of experience coordinating volunteer programs or student engagement initiatives in a higher education or community service setting.
  • Experience in tracking and reporting data, including volunteer hours, service-learning outcomes, and event feedback.
  • Experience in event planning, program coordination, or community outreach is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in student services, student development, or working with diverse student populations is highly desired.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to engage and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to actively participate in volunteer and service-learning opportunities.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and assess programs and events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.
