About The Position

The Stamps and Presidential Scholarship Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, administration, selection, and programming of the Stamps and Presidential Scholarships, which provide comprehensive financial and enrichment support to top incoming GSU students. This role ensures the effective recruitment, selection, and development of scholars while fostering a strong community and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

  • Demonstrated success planning and executing large-scale, high-profile events, including logistics coordination, stakeholder engagement, and budget management.
  • Experience managing scholarship or program budgets and preparing reports in collaboration with financial aid, foundation, or advancement offices.
  • Demonstrated passion for student development, with experience designing and delivering programming that supports academic success, leadership development, and community engagement.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across academic units, administrative offices, and external partners; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using scholarship management and CRM systems such as Blackbaud and Slate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the application and selection process for the Stamps and Presidential Scholarships annually.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy, including information sessions and outreach to high school counselors.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Scholarship Day, a premier recruitment event featuring keynote speakers, candidate interviews, and a formal luncheon for 160-200 participants, managing a ~$25K budget.
  • Oversee and train faculty and staff reviewers for the selection process, ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation of candidates.
  • Recruit, train, and manage Scholarship Day Ambassadors and Interview Guides.
  • Collaborate with the University Foundation and Financial Aid to manage an annual budget of $1.5M+, ensuring accurate disbursement of funds to new and current scholars.
  • Review and approve study abroad stipend and enrichment funding requests, overseeing proper fund allocation.
  • Assist the development team in securing additional grant funding opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on scholarship performance and impact to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit the Stamps Annual Report to the Stamps Foundation to the Stamps Foundation and the Presidential Scholarship Annual Report to university leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for current scholars, prospective applicants, campus partners, and the Stamps Foundation.
  • Develop and implement a scholar programming calendar, including bonding events, social engagements, academic enrichment, and professional development opportunities.
  • Establish and oversee a peer and alumni mentoring program to enhance scholar support and engagement.
  • Facilitate the Scholar Steering Committee to develop new initiatives and strengthen the scholar community.
  • Monitor academic progress and provide support to scholars on probation, conducting regular meetings to ensure their return to good standing.
  • Manage and enhance the Scholars iCollege page, developing a robust digital resource center, including a Scholars Handbook.
  • Supervise a University Assistant/Graduate Assistant, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Plan and lead initiatives for scholar community service projects.
  • Develop and distribute a semesterly Scholar Newsletter to scholars, alumni, and campus partners involved in Scholarship Day.
