About The Position

The Tennis Advocacy and Parks Coordinator will lead efforts to maintain, protect and expand tennis facilities and programming by working closely with municipalities, public and private facilities, and community organizations. The person in this role will be responsible for monitoring local government discussions, analyzing community feedback, developing data-driven reports, and coordinating advocacy initiatives to ensure the continued growth of tennis in Middle States. This position will be either fully remote or hybrid, depending on the location of the candidate. The candidate must reside within the Middle States Section.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze reports from available software to track keywords related to tennis in government meetings, agendas, and community discussions.
  • Oversee the USTA/USTA Middle States Tennis Venue Services Program, providing strategic guidance on facility development, grant opportunities and project execution.
  • Gather and assess community and staff feedback to identify tennis courts at risk of removal or underutilization.
  • Compile and maintain a portfolio of relevant data and statistics, including reports with demographics and tennis participation.
  • Utilize a project management tool to track and share advocacy initiatives, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Regularly update and present progress reports to the Director of Community Development and key stakeholders.
  • Follow up with staff and external partners to acquire information needed for decision-making.
  • Identify, onboard and help coordinate volunteer tennis advocates within the section.
  • Develop and implement educational training modules for tennis advocates.
  • Lead discussions with parks and recreation leaders to advocate for tennis — highlighting its benefits, available resources, programming ideas and infrastructure support.
  • Engage with new park providers while supporting existing sites to enhance tennis programming and facility use.
  • Research and identify parks or recreational spaces in need of improved court infrastructure, programming, and coaching resources.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to highlight community tennis programs through public relations, marketing, and newsletters.
  • Work with the Community team to expand play opportunities, manage activations, and support regional events.
  • Build relationships with influencers, ambassadors, and organizations to boost recreational tennis participation and awareness of USTA programs.
  • Plan exhibits and presentations for Park & Rec and other industry conferences, as needed.
