About The Position

The coordinator is responsible for the oversight of registered student organizations, training and development opportunities for student leaders, and the guidance of two fraternity and sorority governing councils. This position provides training and development opportunities for student leaders and works collaboratively with other team members to foster cross-council collaboration and enhance the overall student organization experience at Central. The coordinator provides information and resources to students, advisors, and campus partners regarding event management practices, safety, and compliance with university policies to ensure organizational effectiveness and responsible operations. This role manages student activity–funded budgets and requires the ability to exercise judgment and make decisions of significance while utilizing discretion. It is imperative this position actively engages in program development reflective of the Student Engagement Values and advises student leaders through the Central Six tenets of Transformative Learning. The coordinator reports to the Director of Student Engagement and has been identified by Federal Law as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in one of the following: student affairs, leadership, student organizations, fraternity and sorority life.
  • Combination of education and experience should provide knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and practices in student development and higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply professional expertise to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to think critically, assess complex situations, and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, risk management principles, and higher education policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and experience with student engagement platforms such as CampusGroups or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to design and facilitate educational workshops and training sessions for diverse student audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related student affairs field.
  • Professional or graduate-level experience advising student organizations and/or fraternity and sorority life governing councils.
  • Experience coordinating recruitment or intake processes, risk management education, and student leadership development initiatives, and event planning processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, alumni advisors, inter/national organization representatives, and campus partners.
  • Knowledge of CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the main administrator for CampusGroups, the University’s student experience management system, including day-to-day system maintenance, campus-wide communications, event tracking, and training for students and campus partners on system utilization and organizational best practices.
  • Responsible for the management and recognition of Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), including the administration of the annual registration process, coordination of event management and approval processes, dissemination of policies, creation of student leader development opportunities, and coordination of Campus Leadership Awards.
  • Serves as the primary advisor for two of the four fraternity and sorority governing councils (Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and College Panhellenic Council), providing comprehensive guidance for council operations, governance, and leadership development, while collaborating with team members to ensure consistency across all councils.
  • Provides coaching and strategic support to chapters related to organizational health, officer transitions, membership development, and retention.
  • Assist with recruitment and intake processes for assigned councils, including eligibility verification, roster management, intake documentation, education plan review.
  • Serves as liaison to alumni advisors and inter/national organization representatives.
  • Maintains and updates Student Engagement marketing materials, social media platforms, and website content.
  • Manages student activity funded budgets - including preparing budget requests, reviewing expenditures, ensuring purchasing compliance, and execution of vendor contracts and payments.
  • Supervises a student worker designated to assist the coordinator with job responsibilities.
  • Supports the programs and initiatives of the Office of Student Engagement and the Division of Enrollment and Student Success.
