About The Position

The Nursing Assistant Simulation Lab Coordinator is a key position in healthcare simulation, Nursing Assistant lab facilitation, and certification preparation. Under the direction of the Simulation Lab Manager, this role is responsible for supporting all nursing assistant simulation and lab operations to ensure best practices are used to enhance student learning outcomes. As a member of the CSN Nursing Assistant Department, the Coordinator provides essential support for simulation and lab activities, including setup and breakdown, moulage, debriefing, and hands-on facilitation of Nursing Assistant lab sessions. In close coordination with the Nursing Assistant Program Director, the Coordinator supports all aspects of Nursing Assistant certification preparation, including organizing and setting up certification test events, ensuring compliance with state certification requirements, and preparing students for success. The Nursing Assistant Simulation Lab Coordinator also facilitates open lab sessions, pre-certification activities, and practice lab time to help students develop clinical skills aligned with state licensure standards. This includes assisting students in practicing learned skills, answering questions, and providing constructive feedback as they prepare for both the Nursing Assistant course and the state certification exam. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills with diverse groups of faculty, students, and state certification test evaluators, and possess the ability to think critically, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Nursing, accredited through one of the following national organizations: ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Unencumbered Nevada Registered Nurse License.
  • iCNA Certification.
  • 3 years’ experience in Nursing.
  • 1 year experience caring for the elderly or chronically ill.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Nursing Assistant students.
  • Experience with setup, breakdown, moulage of healthcare simulations.
  • Experience with nursing assistant education and certification requirements.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Nevada Skills Certificate requirements.
  • Working knowledge of INACSL Standards.
  • Familiar with NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model, the nursing process and INACSL Standards.
  • Basic knowledge of physiological, pharmacological, psychological, social-cultural, and spiritual nursing concepts.
  • Ability to assist with the research of appropriate course scenarios in relation to student learning gaps.
  • Ability to develop a simulation schedule for multiple nursing course sections.
  • Ability to apply appropriate manikin moulage to enhance simulation scenarios.
