About the position

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for preparing payroll and serving as an expert for payroll-related inquiries from approximately 18,000 team members nationwide. This role involves computing, auditing, and issuing payroll checks across 49 states, ensuring compliance, and addressing payroll issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Process off-cycle manual payroll checks for pay upon termination states and pay discrepancies.
  • Serve as the Payroll expert for assigned areas.
  • Audit payroll data prior to processing to ensure compliance with company policies and payroll guidelines.
  • Assist team members with questions regarding their pay and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Test timekeeping data for new earnings codes and sick plans to ensure system changes are functioning correctly.
  • Troubleshoot payroll system issues with the Payroll Manager.
  • Assist in internal and external payroll-related audits of JOANN.
  • Run operational reports as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR, Accounting or related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a corporate multi-state payroll environment or similar work in finance or accounting required.
  • Workday payroll experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP and Kronos preferred.
