About The Position

As Coordinator, Payroll HRIS - Americas you will ensure payroll and HRIS activities are timely and accurately achieved for multiple South32 projects and offices (primarily USA, Canada and Chile) while demonstrating the operational discipline required to meet agreed service delivery model requirements, risk management and South32 operating systems, while continuing to identify, plan, track and monitoring ongoing improvements. This role will be located in the Tucson, AZ office.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum three plus (3+) years’ experience as a Payroll and HRIS professional.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in U.S. payroll requirements, with a solid understanding of tax withholding and reporting requirements.
  • Ability and desire to learn payroll statutory and legislative requirements in locations in North and South America.
  • Demonstrated experience to assess, evaluate and establish mitigations to operational issues and risks, including the Business Contingency and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Proficient in payroll processing platforms ADP, SAP, Success Factors (desired).

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of HRIS and payroll systems (SAP, SuccessFactors, Versa, ADP), including complex queries and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide end-to-end support for HR operations, including onboarding/offboarding, benefits enrollment, and payroll processing (regular and off-cycle).
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, procedures, and statutory requirements; support audits and internal reviews.
  • Act as a point of contact for escalations, resolving or triaging issues based on complexity.
  • Lead and coordinate small to medium-sized HR-related projects and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining operational procedures, system testing, and implementing improved controls.
  • Execute month-end and year-end payroll reporting, ensuring accuracy in benefit elections, deductions, and alignment with KPIs.
