About The Position

As a member of the John Muir Health Physician Practices (JMHPP) Practice Development and Innovation team, the Coordinator, Patient Access Optimization (PAO) is responsible for monitoring and managing all patient access functions for JMHPP. The Coordinator, PAO proactively manages clinician scheduling templates, participates in operational, financial and process improvement analysis, implements solutions where necessary and assures appropriate utilization. The Coordinator PAO actively collaborates with physicians, practice managers and the Manager of PAO to ensure patient access metrics are being met or exceeded and all visit types are being optimized. The Coordinator drives compliance with JMHPP policies and assists in the facilitation of the development of standardized patient access procedures to promote best practice operations and utilization. This individual provides communication to the practice operations team to ensure timely and accurate scheduling, standardized templates, and responsive template management processes. The Coordinator provides recommendations to the Manager, PAO on streamlined workflows to promote optimization of an open access operating model. The Coordinator provides up-to-date reporting to provide to physicians on progress and performance on metrics such as historical visit type utilization and durations, existing template structures and functionalities, scheduling workflows, scheduling instructions, provider panel sizes etc. This individual works with department leadership on course correction if any of these metrics are not being met or exceeded. The Coordinator assists with facilitating the implementation of programmatic initiatives and the development of policies and procedures to drive a best-practice open-access ambulatory system. This individual partners with system providers and practice operators to ensure optimal access strategies are implemented and appropriately monitored. This role collaborates with the other Coordinator(s), Patient Access optimization to execute tasks and reports to the Manager, Patient Access Optimization.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or 4 years patient access experience - Required
  • Two or more years of experience in a healthcare setting - Required
  • Two or more years of experience in team building - Required
  • Two or more years of experience in change management - Required
  • A high level of comfort, knowledge and experience regarding scheduling, template management, and access best practices
  • An understanding and appreciation for clinic operations
  • Comfort and familiarity with computer systems, programs, and applications related to analytics and access
  • Delivers written and verbal communication in a clear, concise, compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results
  • Skilled in the art of negotiation and persuasion
  • Excellent physician relation skills and ability to engage physicians by providing valuable insights and logical explanations to improvements and changes impacting templates and schedulin
