About The Position

Perform and/or oversee a variety of associated academic activities for the Assistant Dean for Graduate and Online Education, the Associate Dean for Academics, and the Dean in the Bagley College of Engineering in graduate and undergraduate online learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area that aligns with one or more of the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.
  • One to four years of experience working with students and student record systems.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Ability to be an effective member of a dedicated, hard-working team focused on the success of students.
  • Availability for some overnight travel.
  • Skill in the use and operation of basic office equipment.
  • Word processing and/or data entry skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Proven strength in customer service.
  • Working knowledge of Banner or a similar student information system.
  • Recent experience in developing and/or managing distance programs, analyzing data, providing training, and coordinating with faculty and students.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practice in distance education, including an understanding of course delivery technologies; exemplary communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; and ability to interact with a range of campus personnel and offices, faculty, students/participants, and the public at large.
  • Skills to facilitate the expansion of the online engineering programs through the recruitment of excellent students from across the state, region, and country.
  • Experience in and working knowledge of various software utilized in online education, such as Canvas, Webex, and basic knowledge of networking.
  • Experience with MyState (or similar) student management system.
  • Sufficient interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential student matters.
  • Knowledge of academic policies and the ability to accurately and effectively interpret, communicate, and implement policy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate online academic programs and courses with academic units and administrative offices. Ensure delivery of online programs is equal to the same level of quality and expectations as main-campus programs and courses.
  • Ensure the integration of online students into the academic setting and provide them with appropriate student support.
  • Coordinate scheduling-related activities with the academic units within the college, across the university, and with the Office of the Registrar. Set course offerings with room assignments to ensure that faculty and student technology needs are met. Scheduling must meet faculty expectations for course delivery and technology availability.
  • Develop, update, and maintain student information for online education students. Ensure appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Coordinate with external partners (Center for Distance Education, Center for Teaching and Learning, etc.) to provide necessary support and resources to prospective and current online students and faculty.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean for Graduate and Online Education with the advancement of graduate recruitment programming, such as the Thrive in Five program and GradPath program, to ensure online student participation.
  • Coordinate with the Publications Office and other stakeholders to produce online education marketing and recruitment materials. Coordinate the creation of online educational promotional and recruitment materials, including print, digital, and promotional products.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute online appreciation events for current students and information workshops for prospective students.
