About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services, the coordinator is responsible for facilitating and completing rehabilitation department tasks related to the operation of the unit. This includes clerical t asks, collaborating with department and hospital personnel , maintenance duties and patient activities to facilitate the operations of the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains department and environmental conditions compatible with optimum patient care .
  • Collaborates with c linicians, patients and nursing staff to assure effective and efficient delivery of service(s).
  • Cleans and inspects therapy equipment daily as scheduled / throughout the day .
  • Follows department procedures for inventory control and maintenance of equipment .
  • Supplies therapy treatment schedules in a timely manner to patients with 95% accuracy.
  • Updates schedules on a daily basis and distributes changes to therapists.
  • Reports major housekeeping maintenance or repair needs to facilities (entering work order requests) and to supervisor .
  • Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the needs of the rehab unit at SDGH .
  • Demonstrates efficiency by stocking patient rooms (gloves, briefs, pens/markers, soap), warmer units, etc. with needed supplies .
  • Maintains rehab unit work area and equipment in condition required by department standards .
  • Completes data entry tasks including therapy units of service / hours worked, 180 minutes per patient, updating therapy treatment records daily, and other tracking logs .
  • Actively participates in the department development and its policies and procedures.
  • Orders needed supplies for the unit such as paper toner, office supplies, DME, etc .
  • Will obtain bid for equipment items requested / needed by staff to perform their job .
  • Will complete discharge phone calls in a timely manner .
  • Will develop forms / revise forms and templates to support various initiatives .
  • Will update the teletracker on a daily basis.
  • Will update the acute therapy board and rehab unit board to reflect current patient population served by OT, PT and SP services.
  • Will assist with patient care duties as assigned including patient transfers, ambulation guarding and/or general mobility assis tance with proper body mechan i c s and safe techniques .
  • Will assist with therapy treatment sessions to support therapy need such as positioning the patient for clinician .
  • Serves on various task forces and committees as appropriate .
  • Promotes customer satisfaction as evidenced by meeting customer requirements in all services provided.
  • Miscellaneous job duties as assigned by the supervisor or director.
