About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job SummarySt. Theodore is a parish of the Archdiocese of St. Louis in Flint Hill, 5 minutes north of Wentzville. A parish of over 825 families, St. Theodore experienced great growth this past decade and is located in one of the fastest-growing regions of the greater St. Louis area. St. Theodore School serves approximately 300 students in grades K–8 and 60 students in preschool and pre-kindergarten, and the parish also supports a PSR program of nearly 60 students. The Coordinator of Discipleship and Faith Formation serves the Gospel of Jesus Christ at St. Theodore by leading both youth and adult faith formation at the parish. This position fosters a culture of discipleship by helping parishioners of all ages grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, deepen their engagement in the sacramental and communal life of the Church, and embrace their mission as lifelong disciples.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ among youth and adults.
  • Invite all members of the parish into fuller participation in the sacramental, communal, and missionary life of the Church.
  • Teach and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus as handed on by the Catholic Church clearly, faithfully, and pastorally
  • Support lifelong spiritual growth through Scripture, study, prayer, and faith-sharing communities.
  • Encourage openness to God’s call in everyday life, including consideration of vocations to priesthood or religious life.
  • Serve the mission of the parish with humility, as that youth ministry operates within a larger pastoral and staff team
  • Work collaboratively with parish leadership, staff, parents, and volunteers
  • Receive feedback with openness and adjust plans in light of pastoral guidance and parish priorities
  • Show initiative and creativity along with discernment, coordination, and clear communication
  • Align decisions, timelines, and programs with the mission of the parish and the needs of families, volunteers, staff, and other parish ministries

  • Maintain flexible office hours, including regular evenings and weekends, to accommodate formation activities.
  • Spend approximately 10–12 hours per week in direct, in-person engagement (“turf time”) with middle and high school youth.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Pastor and parish staff to align programs with parish priorities.
  • Assist in identifying, forming, and supporting volunteer leaders for youth and adult formation initiatives.
  • Prepare, manage, and account for the annual budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission of the parish.
  • Develop, organize, and lead weekly programs for middle and high school youth.
  • Plan and lead retreats and special events (e.g., Steubenville Youth Conference).
  • Collaborate with school and PSR staff for Confirmation preparation and related events.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to youth navigating personal or faith-related challenges.
  • Organize and facilitate regular adult faith-sharing groups, study programs, and periodic formation opportunities.
  • Develop and offer periodic adult faith formation series,
  • Develop and support volunteer leaders for adult formation initiatives.
