About The Position

The Senior Administrative Program Coordinator supports Military and Military‑Affiliated Students by serving as a strategic coordinator and facilitator within the Office of the Registrar. This role leads campus‑wide initiatives that advance enrollment, academic success, retention, and graduation of military‑affiliated students with a focus on providing a coordinated student experience from admission through veteran benefit certification and degree conferral. The Senior Administrative Program Coordinator serves on an integrated team that supports veteran and military‑affiliated students, including a team of School Certifying Officials, and works to provide a cohesive service model and holistic support, an alignment of the certification processes, and facilitated academic and student support. The position collaborates with campus partners to develop and deliver academic support, professional development, and career programming; assists students with the application and enrollment processes; leads events for students related to transitioning to the University and processes that support enrollment success; coordinates responses to individual student situations; collects data related to veteran and military-affiliated applicants and students; and serves as a key liaison to internal and external stakeholders. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student affairs, public administration, social sciences, and five years of experience coordinating a program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting student populations, including veterans and military‑affiliated students.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, and implementing programs or initiatives that support student success, retention, and/or engagement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple campus partners and stakeholders to plan and deliver programming or services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Office of the Registrar team in support of veteran and military‑affiliated students, contributing to a culture of innovation, collaboration, teamwork, continuous improvement, problem‑solving, and service excellence.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data concerning veteran and military‑affiliated applicants and enrolled students to support program planning, assessment, and ongoing improvement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of veteran and military-affiliated students. Respond to inquiries regarding data related to both prospective and enrolled students.
  • Liaise, collaborate, and partner with the Office of Admissions in the recruitment of military and veteran applicants. Develop and support strategies that promote the University of Texas at Austin as a military‑friendly institution.
  • Advise prospective military‑affiliated applicants on the application process, processes related to transfer credit and Joint Services Transcript evaluation, and program‑specific requirements. Facilitate a smooth transition from admission to enrollment and benefits certification, including leading information sessions on key timelines and requirements. Collaborate with ROTC and other partners on targeted recruitment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Veteran Benefit School Certifying Officials to provide holistic student support from admission through degree conferral ensuring alignment between enrollment status, benefits certification, academic progress, and timely degree completion. Coordinate and align communication across the student lifecycle including admission, enrollment, certification, academic support, and student success to ensure a seamless, student‑centered experience for veteran and military‑affiliated students. Collaborate with departmental and campus partners to develop and implement a strategic communication plan that delivers relevant, accurate, coordinated messaging, timelines, and requirements to the veteran and military‑affiliated community.
  • Plan, develop, facilitate, and lead comprehensive professional development and career support programming tailored to military and veteran students. Collaborate with campus partners in career services and professional development, and, as appropriate, with local employers on military‑specific initiatives, training, site visits, and experiential learning opportunities that support student success.
  • Develop, coordinate, and assess programs and initiatives that support enrollment, retention, and graduation of veteran and military‑affiliated students. Lead a comprehensive academic success and support strategy aligned with institutional priorities. Partner with academic advising, tutoring, and other academic support units to design and deliver tailored programming and services for military‑affiliated students. Proactively collaborate with advisors and campus partners to identify and support students experiencing academic challenges and connect them with appropriate resources, tools, and internal or external support programs.
  • Partner with campus offices to plan and deliver events, workshops, orientations, and programming tailored to military‑affiliated students, including topics such as campus resources, academic success, and applying for VA education benefits. Lead specific veteran and military-affiliated student events related to transitioning to campus, orientation programming, and welcome week activities. Assist with veteran and military-affiliated student events and programs; support day‑to‑day office operations and support of veteran and military-affiliated students; and collaborate closely with staff in the Office of the Registrar and various campus stakeholders.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

  • The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
