To further our mission of helping individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to live their best possible lives, the St. Louis Arc is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our Transition Services team. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week Monday-Friday salaried role with an annual salary of $51,000. Since 1950, people with disabilities and their families have been placing their trust with the St. Louis Arc. Today, our 400+ team members serve more than 4,500 children, teens, and adults with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field
  • Knowledge of curriculum and program development, proficient computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn various technology platforms and teach these to participants
  • General knowledge of special education services and options post-high school
  • General knowledge of current transition services offered through St. Louis Arc and in the St. Louis metropolitan region.
  • Strong understanding of how best to support teens and young adults with disabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to foster and maintain relationships with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, organization, and relationship-building skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred, in social work, special education, non-profit management, or related field
  • Two or more years of transition services preferred
  • Experience in non-profits preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support young people with intellectual/developmental disabilities as they prepare for adulthood, connecting them with skills, resources, and opportunities for success
  • Meet with families and transition-age individuals to complete intakes for NextED and determine supports needed and best fit for programs
  • Oversee implementation of NextED Independent Living Skills Curriculum; assess and evaluate success of curriculum, recommend needed adjustments when identified
  • Facilitate NextED sessions (year-round), collaborating with other Next staff
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is completed
  • Research best practices for programming, curriculum, and evaluation tools
  • Supervise between two and five part-time staff for summer programming and independent living classes
  • Mentor and collaborate with practicum students and interns as needed, complete appropriate documentation for their programs
  • Collaborate with other departments and programs such as Launch, Family Support, Connect
  • Plan and facilitate Bounce Forward events, transition services resources fairs, and other various relevant events throughout the metropolitan region as needed
