About The Position

The Coordinator of Student Activities at Bunker Hill Community College is responsible for developing and coordinating a comprehensive student activities program that enhances student engagement through cultural, recreational, and social initiatives. This role involves providing leadership in programming, outreach, and assessment while supporting the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement. The coordinator will also focus on identity-based programming and support for student clubs and organizations, fostering an inclusive campus environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Leadership, Social Justice, Education, or related field.
  • Six years of direct student affairs experience including student activity planning and leadership development.
  • Cultural awareness and competency in working with diverse identities.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and social media communication.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or Social Justice.
  • Experience working with students 1-1 and in small groups to enhance academic retention.
  • Experience at a two-year or four-year higher education institution.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a comprehensive student activities program for campus students including cultural, recreational, and social programs.
  • Develop identity-based themed programming for various cultural and historical events.
  • Support large campus programming and outreach initiatives such as New Student Orientation and Commencement.
  • Collect data and assess goals for diversity and inclusion programs, reporting outcomes annually.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student employees for orientation and outreach activities.
  • Create a formal leadership program for student employees in the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement.
  • Foster relationships with alumni to encourage involvement and support for the institution.
  • Conduct periodic campus climate assessments to identify strengths and gaps in leadership opportunities for students.
