The Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention for the College of Arts and Media at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the recruitment and retention of quality students. This position is responsible for utilizing available time and resources to identify, evaluate, and implement effective strategies aimed at improving student enrollment and retention rates. The coordinator will maintain the College's communication materials, including social media accounts, and will work closely with faculty and staff to gain insights into the College's programs, activities, and events, as well as university policies and procedures. This role requires effective communication with admissions and other stakeholders regarding program updates, and it may involve occasional travel and working evenings and weekends. A valid driver's license is required for this position. In terms of recruitment, the coordinator will represent the College at both on-campus and off-campus admissions events, engaging with prospective students and their families. They will need to stay informed about the College's features and assess their value to students in the context of their decision-making processes. The coordinator will oversee the development and updating of recruiting materials, social media strategies, and communication plans, while also fostering ongoing relationships with community colleges and high school staff, faculty, and administrators. Additionally, they will recruit faculty and student volunteers to assist with on-campus events as needed. For retention efforts, the coordinator will be responsible for coordinating new student orientation, welcome programs, and activities for both new and continuing students. They will manage the College's Living Learning Community (LLC), promote opportunities within the College and University, and direct students to appropriate resources. The coordinator will also analyze data and contribute to reports related to recruitment and retention efforts. The successful candidate will actively participate in committees and other service activities at both the College and University levels, reporting directly to the Dean.
