About The Position

The Nutritionist identifies current trends and assesses community needs, coordinating them into an on-going curriculum directly aligned with Quest Center’s evidence-based, integrative model. The Nutritionist provides nutritional education, practical cooking skills, and other nutritional interventions for all Quest clients, including those with SUD & HIV diagnoses.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including verbal and written
  • Professional and people-oriented demeanor; cultural competence required
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential health information and strong boundaries with clients
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional cooking capacity
  • Education &/or experience working in integrative, holistic or functional nutrition required
  • Ability to frequently twist, bend, and move up to 25 pounds
  • Valid Oregon Food handlers’ card required
  • Able to work with culturally diverse clients and communities while being culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Knowledge and belief in Quest Center’s mission

Responsibilities

  • Helps Manager of Nutrition and Wellness prepare, coordinate, and facilitate: Weekly nutrition nights, including clients with SUD diagnoses from all Quest Center’s programs Women of Wisdom (WOW), including women with SUD diagnoses Weekly cooking classes for all Quest clients, including those with SUD diagnoses HIV men’s group, nutrition activities.
  • Delivers cooking program and education for F.S.R. Designs, implements diet, nutrition and preparation of classes specific to SUD recovery
  • Maintains relationship with Whole Foods weekly donations and other partners
  • Ensures social media engagement and presence of nutrition programs
  • Prepares breakfast and lunch three times per week for F.S.R. Program clients.
  • Participates in new client orientation of wellness programs
  • Tests and teaches recipes that are nutritious, easy to prepare, tasty and contain accessible healthy ingredients.
  • Prepares and facilitates presentations that address client needs
  • Acts as supervisor for interns and volunteers; ensures they are knowledgeable in menu planning, food safety and time management; assigns tasks and ensures completion.
