About The Position

Touro University is seeking a Coordinator of Mentorship Programs to support the establishment of mentoring communities to enhance the enrollment, retention, and graduation of students in NYSCAS. The Coordinator of Mentorship Programs will report to the Director of the Office of Student Success and is projected to supervise faculty and graduate student mentors. As a founding staff member of the Office of Student Success, the Coordinator of Mentorship Programs will play a key role in building the systems needed to launch and maintain a mentorship program. As the Coordinator of Mentorship Programs, you will spearhead the vision setting process for establishing what it means to be a mentor at Touro University. With a clear understanding of mentorship, you will determine the systems for recruitment, selection, and support of mentors in service of strengthening enrollment, retention, and graduation rates at NYSCAS. While this includes different responsibilities, the key functions of the Coordinator of Mentorship Programs role include:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least five years of prior relevant experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven expertise in developing and leveraging relationships with varied stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or doctoral degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Refine the proposed vision for mentorship at Touro University
  • Engage in ongoing cross-functional meetings at Touro University to establish a shared understanding and purpose of mentorship
  • Work collaboratively with the Coordinator of Career Advancement to ensure alignment of ongoing activities across the Office of Student Success
  • Continually grow knowledge of the professional field that the Mentoring Communities are centered around and design and deliver aligned training for Mentors
  • Define the role and related responsibilities for the Faculty and Student Mentors
  • Determine the number of Mentors needed in the pilot and in full scale implementation
  • Serve as the hiring manager overseeing the process for each Faculty and Student Mentor positions needed
  • Monitor the performance and engage in ongoing reviews of each Mentor in alignment with project goals
  • Facilitate ongoing Mentor Community team meetings at a cadence deemed necessary by the project focus
  • Organize and promote student participation in tiered Mentoring Communities by identifying eligible students for Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 communities and providing general and targeted outreach
  • Set benchmarks for assessing progress and use proven strategies to collect data on the mentorship program
  • Maintain quantitative and qualitative data on mentoring effectiveness and use the data to drive continual improvements
  • Prepare communications for the Director related to data collected on the mentorship program
