The Coordinator of Internships at Old Sturbridge Village is responsible for leading, managing, and expanding internship programs for high school and college students. This full-time position focuses on creating community partnerships, attracting a diverse group of interns, and ensuring a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within the internship framework. The role involves overseeing the Summer College Internship program and developing new opportunities for interns across various departments.

  • Recruit, interview, and orient new interns
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and department heads on intern training and professional development
  • Coordinate with local high schools on intern co-op opportunities
  • Expand relationships with colleges/universities and other museums to promote internship programs
  • Travel to colleges and universities to promote intern programs and host onsite visits
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in internship recruitment
  • Diversify the pool of interns to increase BIPOC candidates
  • Expand internships across the institution into new departments
  • Develop semester and year-long internship placements in addition to summer programs
  • Attend weekly Interpretation Coordinators meetings for cross-departmental alignment
  • Work with staff to determine intern needs, create work plans, and evaluate performance
  • Coordinate transportation for interns on field trips
  • Support the Resident Assistant in addressing interpersonal conflicts
  • Manage conflict among interns and staff in collaboration with Human Resources
  • Draft budgets and ensure targets are met with supervisor
  • Provide career-planning services for interns
  • Develop training and workshops for interns and mentors
  • Coordinate seasonal onsite housing for interns.
  • Bachelor's Degree in History, Museum Studies, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a museum setting
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups
