Major Duties Under general supervision, the Coordinator of EOP and College Advising Services delivers comprehensive academic advisement, coordinates EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) transition and retention efforts, supports first-year advising initiatives, and advances student success programming. The incumbent also represents the College through outreach, workshops, recruitment activities, and collaboration across university partners to strengthen holistic student support Provides comprehensive academic advisement for all students assigned to the College of Science and Mathematics Student Services Center/EOP. Initiates and maintains caseload records and documents student contacts. Identifies and facilitates resolution of student issues, determines service needs, applies and upholds University policy, completes appropriate University forms, and makes necessary referrals to College and University resources. Develops, organizes, facilitates, and implements activities related to monitoring student transition and academic progress, including, but not limited to, follow-up with students and responses to faculty alerts. Coordinates activities related to monitoring EOP student transition and academic progress, including, but not limited to, follow-up with students and responses to faculty alerts. Assists the DCA and Student Services Professional (SSP) IV with the coordination, planning, and implementation of first-year advisement for all incoming first-time freshmen and transfers. Represents the Student Services Center (SSC)/EOP satellite and College of Science and Mathematics at on and off-campus events, recruitment activities, and on university committees. Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field.
  • Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related, is preferred.
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Thorough knowledge of university academic policies, degree requirements, EOP guidelines, and student success best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide holistic academic advisement to diverse student populations, interpret complex academic records, analyze student progress, and develop actionable recommendations that support retention, persistence, and timely graduation.
  • Strong case management and organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate caseload records, document student interactions, and monitor academic progress.
  • Ability to assess student needs, resolve concerns effectively, facilitate referrals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver coordinated individual and group advisement services.
  • Working knowledge of Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) policies, compliance requirements, and student support frameworks.
  • Ability to monitor student transition and academic progress, interpret faculty alerts, and develop individualized student success plans for high-concern students that promote persistence and academic achievement.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate EOP-related activities, ensure college participation in admission and transitional programs, and provide accurate, timely updates regarding mandated services.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with campus partners while representing the college in EOP events and initiatives.
