About The Position

The Coordinator of Certification and Academic Transition at the University of Central Missouri is responsible for certifying Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, ensuring compliance with VA regulations, and facilitating the transition of military personnel, veterans, and their dependents into the university environment. This role involves managing educational benefits, processing tuition assistance, and overseeing the VA Work Study program, while also providing support and guidance to students navigating their educational paths.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field of study required.
  • Obtain School Certifying Official, ArmyIgnited, AI Portal and Joint Service Transcript/ACE training within one year of employment.
  • Strong understanding of VA education and military tuition assistance benefits.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in any field of study preferred.
  • Military experience as active duty, reserves, guard or dependent of military member preferred.
  • Experience working in a university or college environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Certifies Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits each semester and ensures compliance with VA regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with State Tuition Assistance requirements and supplies documentation to students for application completion.
  • Reviews and processes Military Federal Tuition Assistance (TA) through the AI Portal and Navy College Management Information System (NCMIS).
  • Evaluates military curriculum and experience for articulation to university credit and is responsible for ACE credit evaluations for military personnel and veterans.
  • Ensures smooth transition into the university environment for service members, veterans, and dependents.
  • Manages the hiring, supervision, training, and scheduling of VA Work Study Students and assists in oversight of the Military and Veterans Success Center.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records on all VA benefit recipients.
  • Investigates and resolves VA problems and processing delays for students, parents, and other University customers.
  • Coordinates with Student Financial Services and Student Accounts to ensure proper assignment of VA benefits to student accounts and resolves billing disputes.
  • Monitors academic progress of all VA benefit recipients to ensure compliance with VA regulations.
