About The Position

The Coordinator of Alumni Engagement, Volunteer Engagement at Florida State University plays a crucial role in mobilizing and managing volunteers to support the University's mission. This position is integral to the Division of University Advancement, especially as the university embarks on its next comprehensive campaign. The coordinator will implement strategies to effectively recruit, train, and retain volunteers, ensuring that they are engaged and motivated towards achieving shared objectives. This role involves developing programs and activities that engage volunteers and acting as a liaison to three key affinity groups, including direct oversight of the Emeriti Alumni Society and the FSU National Black Alumni. The coordinator will be responsible for managing up to three alumni networks, developing strategies for meaningful engagement, and addressing the day-to-day needs of these networks. This includes implementing overall alumni engagement strategies, setting priorities, and establishing goals that encompass alumni leadership, comprehensive planning, and meetings. The coordinator will also monitor and analyze volunteer trends, making recommendations to improve engagement strategies, and maintaining accurate records of volunteer leadership in the CRM system. In addition, the coordinator will research and propose platforms to modernize and streamline the application process for volunteer positions and track volunteer hours efficiently. Collaborating closely with the Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement, the coordinator will develop and implement volunteer stewardship strategies, including initiatives for national volunteer recognition month, philanthropy day, and FSU's Great Give. The role also involves leading planning efforts for the Emeriti Alumni Society Homecoming Reunion and coordinating the regional Emeriti Luncheon series, which includes organizing logistics, creating budgets, and measuring outreach success. The coordinator will attend assigned network meetings and events, some of which may occur after hours or on weekends. They will manage a volunteer handbook that includes resources, financial guidelines, and communication resources. The position requires providing direct event support or guidance as needed, leveraging engagement to identify emerging leaders, and enhancing virtual engagement opportunities for all networks and alumni. This includes initiatives like virtual alumni book clubs, webinars, and panel discussions. The coordinator will also be responsible for creating and managing budgets for assigned alumni networks based on best practices and data-informed strategies, ensuring that all initiatives operate within budget. Building relationships with colleagues across campus and at peer institutions is essential, as is providing on-site assistance at events, which may require evening and weekend work and some travel.
