About The Position

The Coordinator of Nutrition for the Elderly is responsible for the management of resources and services provided by the NFE program in accordance with funding requirements, Tribal law, and Tribal policy. The Coordinator will oversee NFE staff to ensure program is providing adequate and acceptable food services to elderly and vulnerable adults. The Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's Executive Director; who will provide guidance, direction, and conduct performance evaluations.

Requirements

• Must possess two (2) year Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Health, Public Health or related Social Science field.
• In lieu of education requirement, will consider a 5 years of work experience in Social Services or community service based program providing services to at-risk populations.
• Strong command of arithmetic skills to perform calculations with understanding of detailed financial accounts and records.
• Excellent computer skills with strong emphasis on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) Programs.
• Proficient in carrying out general office functions with efficient operation of standard office (copy, scanner, fax, printers, and telephone) equipment.
• Understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
• Solid interpersonal skills; tact, courtesy, composure and flexibility when dealing with a variety of circumstances, situations, and personalities.
• Valid Driver's License and meet insurability requirements.
• Must pass a Minimum Background Investigation to meet certification of eligibility.

• Ability to work outside of the standard tour of duty and travel on and off-reservation for program purposes.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual program budgets and prepare modifications as required.
• Ensure financial management is in compliance with funding requirements and prepare fiscal information for contract monitoring activity.
• Maintain accurate cuff accounts and conduct reconciliation of accounts of Program funds as required.
• Actively pursue grants and respond to funding announcements in order to enhance and support nutrition services.
• Develop and implement traditional food pathway for inclusion in the NFE menus.
• Review and approve food orders to ensure purchases are within nutrition guidelines and available budget.
• Establish resource/support network and with various public agencies and private organizations.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with food equipment, food supply, and farmers market vendors.
• Obtain quotes and bids for equipment and supplies for nutrition services, supportive services, and gardens assistance program; following OMB, Financial, and Procurement guidelines.
• Compile information and data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of congregate, home-deliver, caregiver support units, home & community based service units, in-kind, and volunteer units.
• Monitor site operations; food preparation, delivery systems, sanitation, and safety compliance.
• Enforce food safety and quality standards and review menu planning inventory and supply for sites.
• Provide guidance, direction, and motivate staff necessary to measure and monitor performance standards and expectations; including resolving conflicts and issues.
• Conduct inventory of equipment purchased according to funding source.
• Obtain quotes and bids for office supplies, equipment, maintenance, repairs, and prepare consult agreements for contracted services.
• Review and approve purchase orders and serve as point of contact for program purchases, track and record all requests for payments.
• Review and approve mileage claims and travel authorizations in accordance with travel/mileage policy and procedures.
• Coordinate meeting logistics for staff meetings, training, and program activities.
• Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints; conduct mediation of internal and external issues.
• Establish and maintain accurate file and record system according to funding source and purpose.
• Compose, prepare, and review memorandums, correspondences, reports, and public notices.
