About The Position

Within NGS, the Science & Innovation team is a department that oversees the Society's grantmaking efforts in science, conservation and technology, develops and manages major mission programs, and establishes programmatic partnerships with like-minded non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Over the last twelve years, Pristine Seas, National Geographic's flagship ocean conservation program has helped to inspire the protection of 26 of the last wild places in the ocean, encompassing more than 6 million square kilometers of ocean. We are seeking a Production Coordinator, Media, Pristine Seas to support and scale our approach over the next decade to inspire the protection of up to 40 new places. Additionally, we aim to cultivate and expand a network of best-in-class partners to build a community of support for protected areas. The Pristine Seas media team produces world-class, award-winning documentary films that inspire the creation of marine protected areas and further the mission of the National Geographic Society. The Pristine Seas media team creates a wide array of media with tangible conservation impact at the highest standard of quality. This is a fixed-term role through 2030.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Production office environment, preferably with large shoots, and documentary film production.
  • Solid understanding of the processes and workflows of media production.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to appropriately prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of production to communicate effectively with the team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as the Google Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Manager and Producers with managing incoming project requests and the projects schedules.
  • Notify relevant parties of approaching deadlines and help to keep all projects on track, including updating schedules, the project tracker, and other relevant documents.
  • Assist Production Manager in creating and implementing new workflows to optimize communication and productivity.
  • Coordinate the pre-production, field shoots, and post-production phases of a media project.
  • Support meeting planning, new staff or contractor set up, and contract status tracking.
  • Build call sheets, secure media permits, coordinate logistics, and partner with Associate Producer to make travel arrangements for crew and manage equipment needs.
  • Track deliverables status throughout production and aid Production Manager in compiling required deliverables.
  • Track and compile final deliverables.
  • Work with Production Manager and Producers to track the costs associated with each project budget, updating estimates, submitting invoices and other expenses.
  • Assist Production Manager in creating and tracking status of contracts, including gathering information for license out agreements and Independent Contractors.
