About The Position

The Coordinator of Math Readiness at Youngstown State University is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of programs aimed at improving students' math skills. This role involves collaborating with academic support professionals to enhance services, implement innovative strategies for student success, and monitor progress towards math readiness goals. The coordinator will work closely with students, faculty, and testing centers to provide support and resources, while also managing daily tasks and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field.
• Six months or more of related experience.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field by the time of hire.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success.
• Familiarity with ALEKS PPL and/or other mathematics placement tools.
• Experience teaching and/or tutoring mathematics at the college level.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the day-to-day functionality of operations and services related to assigned programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate daily tasks related to department programs and services.
• Support students in improving math placement levels and provide assistance to those currently enrolled in math courses.
• Collaborate with department staff to utilize tutors and resources for student support.
• Work with the YSU Testing Center and faculty to identify students needing support.
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and staff, including student workers, to complete daily tasks.
• Assist in developing marketing materials for math readiness programs.
• Create individualized plans for students to meet math readiness goals and monitor their progress.
• Research and implement best practices for improving college math readiness.
• Prepare reports and documentation for supervisory review regarding programs and services.
• Attend new student orientation sessions and promote programs.
• Lead workshops and courses to support students in achieving math readiness goals.
• Assist with training new hires.
