About The Position

The Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program provides leadership in the development, implementation, and assessment of the IB instructional program. This role involves developing and promoting the IB philosophy in an ongoing and successful program for students and staff. The Coordinator shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and assessment of the International Baccalaureate Primary or Middle Years Programme in collaboration with building leadership. The position also includes fostering good community relations among various community and school clientele, completing applications, providing correspondence, and serving as a point of contact between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization. Additionally, the Coordinator provides staff development and training around planning, aligning, and refining the Programme of Inquiry, supports teams of teachers in planning and reflecting on IB units, and coordinates school-wide systems that support the implementation of the MYP or PYP Programme. The role requires compliance with all state and federal requirements pertaining to the IB program, timely submission of IB-related fee payments, and maintenance of data and documentation for IB requirements and accreditation. The Coordinator also proposes an annual IB budget consistent with program operations and needs, facilitates collaboration among MYP or PYP staff, and assists in developing a positive program image by celebrating student, staff, and school honors.

Requirements

  • NCLB Highly Qualified in Middle Education Certification - IBNA
  • Teaching License - Colorado Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

  • Pedagogical leader of the MYP or PYP, as pertinent.
  • Manage the process of curriculum review and development for each of the subject groups to ensure continuing MYP quality standards, as pertinent.
  • Monitor and review the implementation of MYP or PYP subject guides by school.
  • Review current educational resources from national and international sources to inform the ongoing development of the program.
  • Contribute responsibly to staff management to maintain a well-functioning MYP or PYP team.
  • Provide support on authorization and evaluation visits as requested by regional offices.
  • Undertake or contribute to special projects to promote the MYP or PYP and the IBO.
  • Central focus for MYP or PYP organization and administration within the school.
  • Advise administration and faculty on all IB MYP or PYP related documents.
  • Ensure the concept of internationalism permeates all subjects.
  • Coordinate/communicate closely with the IB diploma program coordinator at any successive schools.
  • Oversee the MYP or PYP budget.
  • Develop and present orientations and other informational programs for MYP or PYP parents.
  • Develop and administer programs to share information between teachers returning from training and the rest of the staff.
  • Encourage professional development with the diploma program coordinator.
  • Organize, prepare agendas, coordinate/lead professional development activities for MYP or PYP staff.
  • Prepare and present ongoing programs of MYP or PYP orientation and growth to MYP or PYP students.
  • Central focus and responsible authority for the MYP or PYP Application process including the authorization visit.
  • Maintain resources of current IB MYP or PYP related documents and materials.
  • Provide content and maintain the MYP or PYP webpage.
  • Follow all Board policies, state laws, and regulations.
  • Provide support to other positions as required.
