About The Position

AltaMed is a healthcare organization dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality health care to underserved communities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, serving over 400,000 patients as the nation’s largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The Coordinator II, Scheduling position is responsible for scheduling and coordinating on-site and off-site specialist appointments for urgent/senior expedited, routine, and follow-up appointments, adhering to approved authorizations, scheduling, and wait time objectives. This role involves providing clear communication regarding future and past appointments to the PCP and IDT team, working closely with IDT members to coordinate services and advocate for participants' specialty needs. The Coordinator II also collaborates with Center staff/leaders for the coordination of care for fragile patient populations and provides guidance and training to Scheduling Coordinator Level I.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in the medical or clinical field.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with referrals/authorizations.
  • Experience with an Electronic Health System.
  • Served in a lead role and experience leading others.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and coordinating on-site and off-site specialist appointments for urgent/senior expedited, routine, and follow-up appointments following the approved authorizations, scheduling, and wait time objectives.
  • Providing clear communication regarding future and past appointments to the PCP and IDT team.
  • Working closely with members of the IDT team to coordinate services and advocate for participants' specialty needs.
  • Working in collaboration with Center staff/leaders for the coordination of care for the more fragile patient population.
  • Providing guidance and training to the Scheduling Coordinator Level I.
