About The Position

This position is responsible for supporting Missouri DESE Core Data Reporting, Federal Office of Civil Rights, and their official reporting initiatives. This position has a specific focus on conducting regular data audits to ensure accuracy of extracted data that supports effective district data reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, required.
  • A minimum of five (5) or more years as a MS SQL database administrator with extensive work in data warehouse reporting may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
  • Knowledge is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include current, legacy and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; enterprise computing and equipment; advanced database concepts and best practices; business continuity and disaster recovery best practices; Inter/Intranet applications; data security, project management, processes and methodology.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including strong customer service skills; adhering to data security practices; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

  • Certification / training in Excel, SQL or PowerBi preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular audits on key data sources as directed while keeping efficient records of audit results.
  • In collaboration with other Data Analytics and Accountability staff, communicates the results of audits as necessary with external stakeholders to ensure accurate data entry and compliance.
  • Demonstrates a high level of expertise and professionalism building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Create, audit, and/or submit required data with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Create data reports supporting district data compliance and analysis needs.
  • Designs repeatable reporting processes, reporting standards and unified data dashboard standards in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to address organizational needs and ensure the availability of information needed to meet reporting requirements.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of state reporting requirements and guidelines.
  • Maintains reference documentation translating state reporting requirements and guidelines to SPS processes and business practices.
  • Design and support user-friendly data reporting environments from district information systems providing a high-quality user experience.
  • Implement best practices as it relates to data reporting tools, data integrity and quality control, ensuring accurate and reliable district information reportable to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with databases within the district, creating queries and data structures to support compliant reporting.
  • Maintain various documents, files, and records providing up-to-date reference and audit trail.
  • Fulfills data requests as assigned.
  • Learn new software and reporting tools quickly and with initiative.
  • Develop and demonstrate understanding of the district’s calendars, schedules, and special programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
