About The Position

Organization's Summary Statement: The Department of Resident Life serves a highly diverse population of approximately 12,500 undergraduate students living in traditional residence halls, apartments, and suites, including some public/private partnership apartment communities. About 46% of all resident students are enrolled in twelve living-learning programs covering a wide array of academic areas. Resident Life employs a diverse workforce of 90 full-time and graduate staff members and over 600 undergraduate student staff members. General Description of Duties: The Coordinator is a member of the Human Resources team in the Department of Resident Life, Engagement, Services & Programs unit. The Coordinator supports recruitment, selection, retention, and onboarding processes for all levels of staff. This position will serve as a department specialist for full time professional search and selection, onboarding, as well as a resource and support for hiring officials. In support of professional staff in Resident Life, the Coordinator will lead department recruitment, search, and selection efforts for professional and graduate staff. The Coordinator assists with equity and retention practices and may serve as a liaison for staff seeking assistance with personnel matters. The Coordinator participates on departmental committees and is called upon to offer leadership to various departmental efforts. In collaboration with the Coordinator for Payroll and Benefits, the Coordinator for Human Resources supports payroll initiation and maintenance processes for professional and undergraduate student employees and their supervisors in the Resident Life departments through communication and compliance-related tasks. Physical Demands: Normal office environment – Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of professional human resources experience.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable human resources related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of best practices in organization, administration, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of proper protocol in handling confidential information.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
  • Skill in analytical and strategic thinking.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze situations and determine the best recourse for response.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel or Higher Education Administration, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources or related field.
  • If no Master’s degree, four years full-time experience in college/university student affairs, residence hall, or undergraduate student employee management
  • Three to four years full time experience with related master’s degree is preferred.
  • Direct experience with recruitment and hiring of student and/or full-time staff strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workday payroll processes preferred.
