About the position

The Coordinator for Substance Misuse Prevention and Education at Evergreen State College is responsible for implementing educational initiatives aimed at reducing harmful substance use among students. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, conducting needs assessments, and delivering outreach and prevention programs. The coordinator will also manage data reporting and maintain records in accordance with state legislation regarding opioid and fentanyl prevention in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement work plans and objectives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and surveys to identify substance abuse priorities and service gaps.
  • Formulate action and communications plans to deliver key messages to the campus community.
  • Engage in campus outreach to deliver training and increase awareness of mental health resources.
  • Participate in campus work groups and contribute to resource assessment reports.
  • Research, develop, and disseminate prevention and referral information.
  • Provide substance abuse prevention education to students and training to staff and faculty.
  • Develop educational materials using various communication tools and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate in the development of campus policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by state legislation.
  • Prepare and deliver programming to address knowledge and service gaps.
  • Consult with faculty and collaborate with various student services to promote student well-being.
  • Provide workshops and discussions on substance use issues.
  • Maintain professional relationships and resources in the off-campus community.
  • Design and implement research efforts to evaluate intervention effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Behavioral Science, Public/Community Health Education, or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant experience, or five years of relevant experience in substance abuse prevention and education.
  • Experience in harm reduction and substance use/abuse issues.
  • Skill in developing educational materials and delivering programming related to substance abuse prevention.
  • Skill in research design and statistical analyses.
  • Ability to identify substance abuse priorities and formulate recommendations.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and local community resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
