About The Position

Support the district’s mission to ensure academic success by designing, implementing, and supporting a rigorous, vertically aligned secondary science program (grades 6–12). Provide instructional leadership and direct support to teachers and campus instructional staff to improve science achievement, scientific reasoning, and college, career, and military readiness (CCMR), including STAAR/EOC preparation and advanced coursework, while ensuring alignment with elementary foundations, district priorities, and state standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Texas Elementary Science TEKS, STAAR, and EOC requirements and vertical alignment expectations
  • Understanding of research-based instructional strategies for science instruction and inquiry-based learning
  • Knowledge of scientific practices, lab safety, and hands-on instructional design
  • Understanding of CCMR indicators and secondary assessment systems
  • Understanding of advanced science pathways
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and instructional evidence to inform action
  • Experience supporting curriculum development, assessment design, and instructional resources
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and grade spans
  • Five (5) years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience, preferably in science or STEM
  • Experience presenting professional development and facilitating PLCs

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Supervision or Mid-management certificate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design, revise, and maintain secondary science curriculum documents aligned to TEKS, district YAGs, and instructional expectations
  • Ensure coherence and alignment of secondary science curriculum across middle and high school campuses
  • Collaborate with elementary science coordinators to ensure vertical alignment and strong foundational readiness
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of science instructional materials, lab kits, and digital resources
  • Develop and curate high-quality instructional resources within EduHub and other district platforms
  • Support the district’s embedded instructional framework (AVID WICOR) through secondary science instruction
  • Model inquiry-based learning, scientific discourse, collaboration, and problem-solving
  • Support implementation of science and engineering practices embedded within the TEKS
  • Provide job-embedded coaching and instructional support to teachers and campus leaders
  • Support campus-based and district PLCs
  • Facilitate data-informed PLC conversations tied to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Plan and deliver targeted professional development aligned to district priorities and identified needs
  • Develop tools, exemplars, pacing guidance, lab safety protocols, and instructional supports to support effective science instruction
  • Support the district’s embedded instructional framework (AVID WICOR) through science
  • Analyze STAAR/EOC data, formative assessment results, and classroom evidence to identify trends and gaps
  • Support campuses in developing and implementing STAAR and EOC preparation strategies aligned to curriculum and data
  • Assist campuses in implementing science interventions within MTSS frameworks and HB 1416 requirements
  • Participate in Data and Academic Tours and instructional walkthroughs to gather evidence of implementation and impact
  • Support campuses in translating data findings into instructional actions and targeted support plans
  • Support advanced secondary science coursework, including Honors, AP, IB, and dual credit offerings
  • Collaborate with Advanced Academics and STEM partners to ensure instructional rigor and alignment
  • Monitor access, participation, and performance in advanced science pathways to support outcomes
  • Analyze student performance data across advanced science courses to inform instructional supports
  • Monitor curriculum implementation fidelity and recommend adjustments based on data and feedback
  • Collaborate with district coordinators, specialists, and departments to support aligned science instruction
  • Work closely with elementary science coordinator to ensure K–12 coherence and STEM readiness
  • Communicate regularly with campuses regarding curriculum updates, lab requirements, EOC support, and professional learning
  • Partner with Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, MTSS, Advanced Academics, and other departments to support all learners
  • Support district CCMR and STEM goals through strong secondary science instruction and assessment performance
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of science goals tied to the District Improvement Plan
  • Provide reports and analysis to district leadership to inform instructional decision-making
  • Support science curriculum adoption cycles, resource inventories, and long-term instructional planning
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Academics and content team
