About The Position

The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) provides vision and leadership for all aspects of fraternity and sorority life at the University. They develop programs and initiatives and work with various internal and external constituents to enhance the quality of the fraternity and sorority experience. The Coordinator of FSL oversees long and shortârange goal and strategy development, program planning, marketing, expansion and assessment for Greek Councils under their advisement. They are responsible for collecting, tracking, and analyzing data and developing policy recommendations based on this research. They will work with Fraternity and Sorority alumni, chapter advisors, community groups and individual fraternities and sororities. The staff of Student Engagement provides leadership and advising on issues unique to the FSL community, onâcampus FSL programming, and risk and liability management. This position will work closely with the Student Engagement staff towards unification with the Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council and Panhellenic Association. The Coordinator of FSL will advise student leaders on the development and implementation of programs, applicable policies and procedures, risk management, leadership development and organization management. Advising and programming should use a holistic approach with emphasis on enhancing individual and student organization development. Knowledge and understanding of fraternity and sorority systems, national and regional trends, policies, procedures, governance, organizational development and recruitment processes. The position requires considerable evening, weekend and on call commitments.

Requirements

A Master's degree and 1 year of experience; or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of all fraternity and sorority umbrella organizations and student development theory

Nice To Haves

A minimum of one-year experience in Student Affairs, including work in a Fraternity and Sorority Life Department or national headquarters.
Experience advising or volunteering with IFC
Ability to apply theory in practice in a university setting
Membership in a fraternity or sorority

Responsibilities

Advise national sororities and fraternities in the areas of risk management, relationships with individual national headquarters, local alumni chapters, and other activities with fraternities and sororities on and off campus, including working with housed chapters.
Support and advise one or more of the four Greek councils (Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association) This position will focus on advising the Interfraternity Council specifically.
Advise students on program development, policies and processes, risk management and leadership.
Work with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to advocate for Greek lettered fraternities and sororities These interactions are meant to develop students socially and academically by instilling in them a level of personal responsibility that will aid them both inside and outside of the classroom.
Works with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to provide direction and guidance in program development, delivery, and assessment of departmental programming efforts. The allocation of resources and efforts should revolve around the development of students socially and academically to enhance the overall academic experience of the student both inside and outside of the classroom.
Assist with facilitating and instructing faculty and alumni advisors for Greek-Lettered organizations/other groups on advising, mentoring, and student development theories.
Develop research data analysis on growing and developing trends in Fraternity and Sorority Life and programmatic schemes.
Work with the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator of Student Engagement to advocate for Greek lettered fraternities and sororities These interactions are meant to develop the student socially and academically by instilling in them a level of personal responsibility that will aid them both inside and outside of the classroom.
The Coordinator of FSL is on call at various times to respond to emergency situations with fraternities and sororities. These include matters involving student welfare and safety concerns. The immediate response of staff to these situations helps to prevent, or at least minimize, behavior and/or conditions that could cause serious harm to our students physically, or legally.
Represents The Department of Student Engagement on various university committees.
