About The Position

The English as a Second Language Computer Lab Coordinator at Clark State College is responsible for overseeing the operations of the computer lab dedicated to ESL learners. This role involves managing participant usage, providing assistance with basic computer skills, and coordinating workshops aimed at enhancing computer literacy among new Americans. The position is grant-funded for one year, with potential for extension, and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; associate's degree in computer science or related program preferred.
  • Proficient in multiple languages, Haitian Creole preferred.
  • Instruction and/or classroom experience preferred.
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer application skills including Google applications, social media/LinkedIn, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems.

  • Experience working with Jobs and Family Service Organizations.
  • Experience with public service organizations and city/county government.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the daily operations of the computer lab.
  • Engage with participants to mentor success and identify those ready for further training or education opportunities.
  • Assist participants with basic computer literacy skills, including logging in, establishing email accounts, and editing documents.
  • Track all participants with accurate sign-in and sign-out sheets.
  • Monitor lab usage to ensure it is used for employment and enrichment opportunities.
  • Develop curriculum and workshops for ESL participants.
  • Administer TABE tests to measure participant language proficiency.
  • Track and report all grant outcome data as defined in the program outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
