About The Position

The Coordinator for the Educational Opportunity Center at Paris Junior College is responsible for providing personal, vocational, and educational advising to disadvantaged individuals in the target area. The role aims to promote increased postsecondary education attainment, encourage dropouts to re-enter education, and assist in program planning and management. The coordinator will also maintain relationships with service agencies and provide personalized assistance with academic and financial aid applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling & Guidance, Social Work, Communication, Higher Education, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of TRIO working experience or in higher education or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience desired.
  • Experience in academic and financial aid advising.
  • Strategic planning and program management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high-level multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use technology and software for accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working with educationally disadvantaged individuals.
  • Familiarity with community referral sources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal, vocational, and educational advising to disadvantaged individuals.
  • Encourage secondary and postsecondary dropouts to re-enter education.
  • Assist the Director in planning and managing program activities.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with service agencies.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance with academic and financial aid applications.
  • Develop specific plans of action to increase retention and graduation rates.
  • Conduct extensive follow-up with program participants.
  • Maintain a database management system for reporting purposes.
